DISCLAIMER: The following Australia Post philatelic announcement is fake.

Shortly after domestic postal rates were increased---the base rate of posting a letter within the Commonwealth is now 60 cents---Australia Post has announced a new series of six commemorative stamps, each displaying a splendidly-creative postcard as issued by Canadian visitors Jonesy Garcia and Nikki Wong during their memorable trek across Australia this past July and August.

These stamps are the result in part of a painstaking project by :icondaanton: in preserving the postcards and photo-readying them for reproduction in stamp form.

Prominently displayed on the stamps are:
  • the couple at the eastern end of the Nullarbor Plain;
  • Nikki in Asian dress at the Japanese POW museum in Cowra, NSW;
  • munching on flavoured peanuts in Kingaroy, Qld;
  • mystically contemplating Uluru (Ayers Rock);
  • visit to Lake Ballard, WA; and
  • the trekkers'-style map of their trip.

I wouldn't mind a larger version of the map. This way you can better chart out their itinerary. And I wonder. Even though this is fake, suppose for a moment this was real. Why would Australia Post do this? I mean after all it is a Canadian couple trekking around Australia. Don't know how popular Australia is with Canadians but I'd assume it to be sort of popular.
